Transgender Awareness Week 2018

Press Release: Amanda Ashley from Rodney Area Rainbow LGBTQ+

It is a great honour to have this petition presented on our behalf by InsideOUT and accepted by Marja Lubek.

The acceptance of this petition marks the start of great positive effect for a number of New Zealander’s right now, and for generations to come.

It is time for New Zealand to take its place beside all of the other countries that have already adopted a ban on Conversion Therapy.

We would like to acknowledge the great work by young labour and the young greens with their petition and media coverage for this issue, and urge the Justice Minister to consider a review of the Human Rights Act as early as possible.

There is great hope for seeing the current government put their Rainbow Policies into action, as well as considering the changes that a number of Individuals and organizations around the country are working on right now.

Thank you / Kia Kaha
